Pharmaceutical

IPD Smart Labels™ have proven to effectively test the time, temperature and humidity levels in product production. Applications of these specialized IPD labels include knowing when a pharmaceutical product has reached an elevated, critical temperature. These labels rapidly produce a color at target dates or temperatures, enabling companies to discard pharmaceuticals that are potentially hazardous because of bacteria proliferation or other contamination.

Time-temperature labels perform the same function, but with the added dimension of time indication. As with food product analysis, the chromogenic process can be controlled to produce a gradual color change over a predetermined period of time. The color change of the active ink can be compared to a color-time reference stripe printed in close proximity.

Additional pharmaceutical innovations include the Transitions ultraviolet-based demonstration unit to show that lenses block ultraviolet rays, specialty inks for transdermal medications using patches instead of needles and spot-test reagents for identifying substances, including drug test reagents.
